Hi,

I tried to test this TAP, but for a non finnish speaking person it's very hard to get started. Can someone please describe me the main functionality of this TAP or give me a short translation for the settings?

It hangs completely the system in quick Search:

I see now nice looking dialog:
"PlasmaEPG - quick search"
Saving program information... 0% done.

- picture stalled
- USB comm downed (FTPD does not access)
- power button only
- 9/12 channels were filled
- 5500 PVR Sat

The latest beta version 1.31-Beta has a known bug when searching and saving program information. This bug will be fixed in new Beta2 version. Please wait day or two and you can download it :)

- changing channels by "OK" doesn't work, even this set in global settings
- doesn't download EPG data at 5:00 (after few days - empty EPG)

Well, you have to -double- click "Ok" quickly enough to change the channel :P And to download EPG data automatically a VCR timer has to be created from ~4:55 -> ~6:00 (everyday). So, Toppy has to be turned on at 5:00  :)

1. Automatize EPG data downloading (the TAP creates the timer itself?) and the time and on/off controlled via setup?

2. make epg data downloading on fly (same way as in original TF EPG)?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by your first question. Can you refine it..? At the moment it seems pretty difficult to download program information on the fly because PlasmaEPG's architecture is not desinged for that.. but I'll keep the idea in mind... :)

I have meant, that when one sets the time, when EPD should be downloaded, then the application takes care of creating wake-up timer for a period of time big enough to download EPG

By the way,
I can make translation to russian, if you are interested.

Can you describe the situation in more detail? What are the actual steps you need to get PlasmaEPG crashed?

3. quick search
4. browsing
5. randomly after some browsing, doesnt matter how fast to browse, the system just crashes. The fastest was 4 presses to nav-buttons.

Does 1.40-Beta2 work on you then? Pretty hard to point out the problem.. =/ Try also with the original font to make sure that the font library is not an issue. There is a known strange problem when I try to print ">> Any text here <<". Therefore I changed currently watched channel's title in RC version.

There is just one thing that I have not been able to work out (no English manual). If I press the 'info' button to read the program description, how do I scroll down? I can only see the first part which just cuts off and cannot access the remainder.

Mostly due to static memory allocation for program descriptions in PlasmaEPG's internal program database, only 128 (256 characters with Description Extender) can be currently shown  :-\ If extended description for a program is available, it will be used, otherwise normal program description is displayed. Maybe some day I'll have enough time to add support for longer descriptions...  :)

PlasmaEPG is a huge improvement over the Toppy's and I now have it as my default EPG. However, some features are teasingly still out of reach for me. Without a full set of instructions in English, or even a few hints on this forum, I'm sadly limited to the basics and can't figure out how some other features are used. For instance, how to use the 'Favourites' and use/configure the colour settings. Thanks to anyone who can help me understand the use of these two features!  :)

Nice to hear that you like it :) English instructions are missing because it would take to much time to keep instructions up to date with both languages. This is the situation at least at the moment. Considering your problem, you can hit "Mute" key anywhere in PlasmaEPG and you'll be provided with a list of allowed keys or short help. Favorite programs can be created by pressing "Fav" key in main view when desired program is selected. Favorite edit window is shown then and you can assign a favorite category to the favorite. Hit Ok, and that's it! You can also use wildcards '*' and '?' in favorite's search pattern (Name field). Don't be afraid to ask again if anything is still unclear :)

I did stumble upon a 'keys' list once, but quickly lost it again and couldn't recall what key sequence got me there. I use a Logitech Harmony remote and also I reassign keys with PBK, so I have to remember what remote key originally did what. I might need to re-reassign some for PlasmaEPG, but I look forward to trying some more features later. Thanks again :)

(Wow! I just got favourites set up and I've sort of figured out how to edit the colours. Great!)
